British Longhair Breed Profile
The British Longhair is basically the re-introduction of an old breed. The
original British Longhairs were interbred with imported longhairs to such an
extent they developed into what is
now the
Persian
breed.
Apart from the semi-long coat, modern British longhairs are almost identical
to the
British Shorthairs
.
Attempts at breeding a shorthaired version of the Persian cat, resulted in
the
Exotic Shorthair
.
A breed which is quite distinct from the British Shorthair.
British Longhairs are known as Lowlander in the US and Britanica in Europe.
The breed is not yet recognised in the UK.
